ABOUT THE ONE MARA CARBON PROJECT (OMCP)
One Mara Carbon Project (OMCP) is an ecosystem-level conservation initiative in the Maasai Mara ecosystem, aiming to project biodiversity, restore degraded lands, and provide climate, economic, and ecological benefits to local communities by offsetting carbon emissions. Located on the Maasai Mara National Reserve, OMCP works in a savannah conservation zone to deliver significant ecological and social impacts, involving diverse stakeholders including communities, authorities, NGOs, government bodies, and donors. The project is supported by partner organizations, including Conservation International (CI), the Maasai Mara Wildlife Conservancies Association (MMWCA), and Aroha.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The CEO will lead the development, implementation, and management of OMCP, as well as set the strategy for its organization and ensure its long-term financial sustainability. This role requires a results-driven leader with a strong background in conservation, program management, organizational leadership, and stakeholder engagement.
The CEO will be responsible for setting the organizational strategy, delivering project objectives, building the OMCP organization from the ground up, overseeing staff, and financial operations, ensuring compliance with donor standards, brokering strategic partnerships, and representing OMCP at key industry and community stakeholders. The CEO will also build and promote the project’s reputation as a model for sustainable land use and conservation, managing risk, engaging communities and other stakeholders, and optimizing project impacts to increase its influence and effectiveness and drive the achievement of OMCP’s mission.
