Finance Intern
Department: Finance/ Operations
Reports To: Accountant / Operations
Location: Nakuru, Duration: [Specify, e.g., 3 to 6 months]
Job Summary:
The Finance Intern will provide essential support to the finance department, assisting with daily accounting tasks, financial record-keeping, and reporting. This internship is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to gain hands-on experience in the financial services and credit industry, learning from experienced professionals and contributing to the team's success.
Key Responsibilities:
• Financial Record-Keeping:
o Assist with data entry and maintenance of financial records in the accounting system.
o Support the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
o Help in organizing and filing financial documents, such as invoices, receipts, and bank statements.
• Reconciliation & Analysis:
o Assist in reconciling bank statements, general ledger accounts, and petty cash.
o Support the team in preparing basic financial reports for management review.
o Conduct basic financial analysis to identify trends or discrepancies.
• Administrative & Ad-hoc Duties:
o Assist with the preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
o Provide administrative support to the finance team as required.
o Participate in departmental meetings and process improvement discussions.
o Undertake any other tasks assigned by the Finance Manager or senior team members.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Education:
o Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or a related field.
o Students in their third or final year are preferred.
• Skills & Competencies:
o Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially MS Excel.
o Excellent analytical skills and a high degree of attention to detail.
o A keen interest in the financial services and credit industry.
o Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
o High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and ethical conduct.
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
