Galana Energies Limited is a leading oil marketing company in Kenya, engaged in the import, distribution and marketing of high-quality petroleum products including Fuels, LPG and Lubricants. We also operate a nationwide network of retail service stations under the Galana Energies brand.

To further enrich our growing team at Galana Energies, we are currently seeking to recruit a talented, visionary and highly skilled professional for the position of Technical Buyer.

About The Role
The Technical Buyer is responsible for procurement of high- quality, technically specified equipment, materials and services essential to the company's operations. The role entails timely procurement of technical goods and services, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with company and industry standards.

Key duties will include:
- Source and procure technical materials, equipment, and services aligned with operational needs.
- Collaborate with engineering and project teams to interpret technical requirements.
- Identify and pre-qualify reliable technical suppliers to build a reliable vendor registry.
- Conduct sourcing from approved suppliers, negotiate pricing and ensure compliance with procurement and approval of Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
- Manage tenders and support tender analysis and approval.
- Evaluate bids for technical compliance, pricing and warranty terms.
- Drive cost-saving initiatives in procurement, from procurement policies.
- Process purchase requisitions in line with procurement policies.
- Communicate proactively with suppliers to ensure understanding of specifications and delivery schedules.
- Ensure timely evaluation of procurement needs for upcoming projects.
- Manage supplier performance and track performance through KPIs.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Civil) or Quantity Surveying.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in procurement and supply chain.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong analytical thinking.
- Strong knowledge of procurement policies and standards.
