About the Role
The Finance intern will provide essential support across finance and procurement, functions to promote smooth and efficient operations. The role focuses on maintaining cost-effective practices, strict adherence to finance policies, and alignment with organizational goals. This position involves managing petty cash, record keeping, budget tracking, supporting procurement, and handling administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Recordkeeping and Data Entry
• Assisting in entering financial transactions into accounting systems (e.g., invoices, payments, receipts).
• Verifying the accuracy of data and documents.
• Organizing and filing financial records for audits and reports.
2. Accounts Payable and Receivable Support
• Helping to prepare and send out invoices to clients.
• Tracking incoming payments and following up on overdue accounts.
• Assisting with processing vendor payments and expense reimbursements.
3. Budgeting and Forecasting Assistance
• Supporting the finance team in preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
• Gathering historical data and compiling expense reports.
• Participating in variance analysis (comparing budget vs. actual figures).
4. Reconciliation Tasks
• Helping with the reconciliation of petty cash.
• Assisting in reviewing and reconciling general ledger accounts.
• Ensuring records match up with internal systems and external documents.
5. Compliance and Audit Support
• Assisting with internal and external audit preparations.
• Ensuring financial practices follow company policies.
• Maintaining updated documentation to meet compliance standards.
6. General Administrative Support
• Taking meeting notes, scheduling finance-related appointments.
• Assisting with office administrative tasks as required by the finance team.
• Liaising with procurement, HR, and project teams for finance-related matters.
• Helping ensure finance alignment in project costing.
Qualifications & Skills
• Education: A bachelor’s degree Finance/Accounting or a related field is often required.
• Experience: At least 1 year of experience in Finance. This can include internships, entry-level positions, or roles in administrative support where finance functions are part of the job.
