About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Miller to oversee and manage the full
maize milling operations in our manufacturing plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible
for ensuring optimal production efficiency, maintaining high-quality standards, and leading a
team of millers and operators across shifts.
Key Responsibilities
 Independently operate and manage the full maize milling line, ensuring efficient and
continuous production.
 Optimize machine performance by setting appropriate feed rates and adjusting rollers,
sifters, and extraction systems.
 Conduct advanced troubleshooting and identify mechanical or electrical anomalies
early to minimize downtime.
 Maintain high flour quality standards by monitoring fineness, colour, moisture, and
extraction efficiency.
 Coordinate with the Maintenance, QC, and Packing teams to ensure smooth workflow
across departments.
 Lead, mentor, and supervise junior and mid-level operators during shifts.
 Maintain comprehensive shift logs covering production figures, breakdowns,
adjustments, and quality checks.
 Enforce safety, hygiene, and KEBS-compliance standards within the milling area.
 Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce wastage and enhance
production efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
 Minimum 5 years’ experience operating maize milling machinery in a busy flour
manufacturing environment.
 Deep understanding of milling processes, machine optimization, and quality control
parameters.
 Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to respond quickly to mechanical or
process-related issues.
 Familiarity with KEBS standards, food safety requirements, and mill hygiene
protocols.
 Ability to lead a shift, supervise junior staff, and communicate effectively with
management.
 Technical training in milling operations or mechanical processes is an added
advantage.
