Executive Director
About Us: KWT is Kenya’s only national Trust dedicated solely to predator conservation. Through science-driven and community-led programs, KWT delivers impact across the Greater Mara.
Position Summary: The Executive Director will provide visionary leadership and operational oversight for Kenya Wildlife Trust, driving local fundraising, program management, and staff leadership. They will report to the Board of Trustees while engaging key partners to advance conservation efforts in Kenya.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership & Growth: Lead KWT’s Strategic Plan delivery, positioning the organization as Africa’s premier predator conservation leader by 2035. Drive program expansion across the Greater Mara and beyond.
2. Fundraising and Partnerships: Mobilise resources from foundations, corporates, and major donors. Represent KWT with conservation partners, government, and global stakeholders. Elevate KWT as a thought leader in predator conservation and coexistence.
3. Programme Excellence: Champion community-led conservation initiatives and build networks of emerging Kenyan conservation leaders. Drive strategic policy engagement and advocacy. Communicate KWT’s impact to all stakeholders.
4. Organisational Leadership: Lead a high-performing team across Nairobi and the Mara. Foster an inclusive, learning-oriented culture and develop emerging conservation leaders.
5. Financial Oversight: Ensure strong financial management and accountability. Drive responsible stewardship aligned with strategic priorities.
6. Governance and Stewardship: Ensure governance, accountability, and financial stewardship. Support the Board and safeguard organisational integrity and equity.
Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in management, leadership, conservation or related field.
• 10+ years in wildlife conservation with proven strategic leadership and management experience
• Strong strategic planning, financial management, and organizational development skills
• Proven success securing funding from foundations, corporates, and major donors
• Deep knowledge of Kenya’s conservation challenges, particularly predator conservation and human-wildlife coexistence
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Experience working with Boards of Directors and establishing stakeholder relationships with government, academia, and communities
• Strong governance and financial accountability experience
• High integrity leadership with excellent communication and advocacy skills
• Commitment to sustainability and organizational growth
